Meet the photographer
Eastern Cape photographer, storyteller and lifelong horse lover
I’m Adri Krige. I create honest, emotive photographs of horses and the people who love them, as well as relaxed family and couple portraits along the Eastern Cape coast.

More than photographs
I have always been drawn to the stories held in a moment
I feel deeply blessed to call myself an equine photographer, but more than that, I am a storyteller. My greatest passion is capturing the quiet, powerful connection shared between horses and the people who love them.
My work also includes natural family and couple photography around St Francis Bay, Cape St Francis, Jeffreys Bay and Tsitsikamma. Wherever I am, I look for the same thing: honesty, emotion and the small details that make a relationship yours.
Where it began
Rooted in the Karoo
I grew up on a farm in the Steytlerville district, where the wide-open spaces, dust and wind of the Karoo shaped who I am. While my mom hoped I might fall in love with cooking, I would always rather be outside in the veld with my dad.
Madison
Our farm horse captured my heart. I can still remember his smell, the feel of his coat and the joy of every chance I had to sit on his back.
Lord
My best friend Izelle shared my love of horses. I would cycle five kilometres to spend time with her and her beautiful horse, Lord.
Star King
My dad saw what horses meant to me. Despite once offering me any motorcycle instead, he eventually gave me my first horse, Star King—and my story truly began.

Horses taught me to notice
The bond comes before the photograph
Horses are never simply subjects. They have their own moods, histories and ways of responding. Understanding that changes the whole experience.
I work patiently, allowing each horse time to settle. I notice the soft nuzzle, the trust in an eye, the strength in a stride and the way a person’s body language changes beside the horse they love.

Uncle Jay taught me to look deeper
Photography came into my life through Uncle Jay—Izelle’s dad, our neighbour and a passionate photographer. I spent hours in his darkroom, mesmerised by the magic he created.
He became my mentor, my fiercest critic and one of my greatest supporters. He taught me to remove distractions, search for truth and make every frame say something. Even now, I often ask, “What would Uncle Jay say?”

The work I create today
Meaningful portraits, wherever your story lives
Today I work as a travelling equine photographer across South Africa, visiting private yards, farms and equestrian venues. Closer to home, I photograph families and couples throughout St Francis Bay, Cape St Francis, Jeffreys Bay, Humansdorp and Tsitsikamma.
My sessions are relaxed, gently guided and shaped around the people or animals in front of me. You do not need to know how to pose. You only need to arrive as you are.
My approach
Photographs built on patience, honesty and connection
Patient
I leave room for horses, children and people to settle, move and respond naturally.
Personal
Your session is planned around your relationship, location and the story you want to preserve.
Timeless
I create refined, emotive portraits that will still feel meaningful many years from now.

Your story deserves to be remembered
