Some photographs record how a moment looked. The most meaningful ones bring you back to how it felt. My work centres on the relationships people value most: the bond between a horse and owner, the character of a much-loved horse, the energy of a family and the quiet connection between two people.
Based in St Francis Bay, I photograph families and couples throughout Cape St Francis, Jeffreys Bay, Humansdorp, Oyster Bay and Tsitsikamma. For equine photography, I travel throughout the Eastern Cape and across South Africa.

Every horse has a presence of their own—the familiar expression, the way they carry themselves and the small details their person would recognise anywhere.
Sessions may focus on the horse alone, the relationship between horse and owner, or beautifully composed horse-and-rider portraits. I travel to private yards, farms and equestrian venues throughout South Africa.

Understanding Horses Changes the Experience
A horse may be alert, playful, distracted or simply uninterested in the plan we had in mind. I do not see this as the session going wrong. It is part of photographing an animal with a personality and responses of their own.
I allow time for horses to settle and work with their natural behaviour rather than forcing every moment. This creates photographs that feel composed without losing the character of the horse in front of me.

I am Adri Krige, a photographer based in St Francis Bay. My approach is grounded in patience, careful observation and respect for the people and animals in front of my camera.
I understand that horses are unpredictable, children need room to be themselves and many adults feel uncomfortable in front of a camera. Sessions are unhurried, gently guided and designed to feel like an experience rather than a performance.
