Looking for things to do in Jeffreys Bay with the family? You do not need to fill every hour. A beach morning, somewhere to explore when the wind picks up and time to enjoy being together can make a better day than a packed itinerary.
Here are a few ideas that work for a family visit, including one way to bring home photographs with everyone in the frame.
Spend an easy morning at the beach
Pack towels, water, hats and a change of clothes, then leave room for the children to follow their own curiosity. Walking, looking for shells and playing on the sand are enough for a good morning. Check the weather, tides and current beach safety information before swimming, and keep a close eye on children near the water.
If your family enjoys surfing, even watching the surfers for a while can be part of the outing. Jeffreys Bay’s surf culture gives the town its own character.
Visit the Shell Museum
The Jeffreys Bay Shell Museum is a useful change of pace when you want a break from sun or wind. It is close to the main beach, so it can fit into the same outing without a long drive. Look up its current opening hours before setting off, especially on public holidays.
Stop for something to eat and take your time
An unhurried lunch or coffee break gives younger children a chance to reset. Choose somewhere that suits your family on the day rather than trying to follow a strict schedule. If the weather changes, it is easy to swap the order of your plans.
Book a beach family photoshoot
Holidays are often when grandparents, parents and children finally end up in one place. A beach photoshoot can give you photographs of the whole family, including the person who usually takes them. It does not have to take over your day: we can meet when the light is softer, take a walk and let the children be themselves.
