Beginners Photography Course in St Francis Bay | Adri Krige

Beginners Photography Course

A gentle, hands-on day in St Francis Bay — moving from Auto to Manual at your own pace.

If your camera has been sitting in its bag because all those buttons and numbers feel like a foreign language, this day was made for you. We begin slowly, everything is explained in plain, ordinary words, and we practise each thing together until it starts to feel natural in your hands.

There are no silly questions here, and nobody is expected to arrive knowing anything at all. By the end of the day you will understand what your camera is actually doing when you press the shutter, and you will be able to make those choices yourself instead of leaving them to Auto.

We work in a small group, so there is time for each person. We start in the morning with the theory, share a light lunch together, and then spend the afternoon out with our cameras, staying on past sunset to work with that last soft light.

How the day unfolds

  • 10h00 – 12h00  |  Theory. We start with the fundamentals in plain, ordinary language — aperture, shutter speed and ISO, and how the three work together.

  • 13h00  |  A light lunch. A proper pause together, time to chat and let the morning settle.
  • 14h00 until sunset  |  Practical. Out with our cameras, trying everything for yourself with me beside you, right through golden hour and the last soft light of the day.

  • Your camera manual, if you still have it
  • Comfortable shoes, and something warm for after the sun goes down
