Plan Your Horse Photoshoot
Your horse, honestly captured
More Than a Photograph of Your Horse
Every horse has a presence of their own—the familiar expression, the way they carry themselves and the small details you would recognise anywhere.
My aim is to capture those qualities honestly and beautifully. Your photographs should not only show what your horse looked like at this point in their life; they should remind you of who they were and what your relationship felt like.
I combine a fine-art approach with an understanding of horses and their unpredictable nature. Sessions are relaxed, unhurried and shaped around the individual horse. There is no expectation of perfect behaviour, complicated posing or performance on demand.
Created around your story
A Horse Photoshoot Designed Around You and Your Horse
No two horses are the same, and no two photoshoots should be either. We will discuss your horse’s personality, your relationship, the photographs you love and the location available to us.
Fine-Art Horse Portraits
Refined horse-only portraits that preserve character, expression and detail.
Horse and Owner Portraits
Natural photographs that celebrate the relationship you share with your horse.
Horse and Rider Photography
Ground portraits, ridden images and movement where the setting allows.
Albums, Prints and Wall Art
Photographs created to become part of your home and your family’s story.

Character, light and detail
Fine-Art Equine Photography
Fine-art equine photography focuses on the beauty, character and presence of the horse. Careful use of light, composition and background allows every detail to stand out—from the shape of the face and the texture of the coat to the expression in the eyes.
Portraits can be created outdoors in natural light, against a dark stable or barn entrance, or in another carefully selected setting. The location does not need to be elaborate. Good light, a suitable background and patience can transform a familiar space into something striking.
The partnership between you
Horse and Rider Photography
The connection between horse and rider is built through time, trust and shared experience. It can be found in the obvious moments, but also in the quiet ones—a hand resting on a neck, a familiar glance or the way a horse responds to the person they know.
Your session can include photographs on the ground, relaxed portraits together and ridden images where the location and circumstances allow. You do not need to be a competitive rider, and your horse does not need to stand perfectly. I will guide the session calmly and work with what your horse gives us on the day.

A calm, guided experience
What to Expect From Your Equine Photography Session
Planning Your Session
We will discuss your location, your horse, the photographs you would like and any concerns you have. I will also help with clothing, grooming and suitable areas at the venue.
Working at Their Pace
The session moves comfortably. Horses may need time to look around, settle or take a break. I guide positioning without expecting unnatural poses for long periods.
Creating the Final Collection
Your strongest photographs are carefully selected and professionally edited in my fine-art style to create a consistent, natural and personal collection.

Patience changes the experience
An Understanding of Horses Matters
A horse may be alert, distracted, playful, impatient or simply uninterested in the plan we had in mind. I do not see this as the session going wrong. It is part of working with an animal that has a personality and responses of their own.
I allow time for horses to settle and work with their natural behaviour instead of forcing every moment. My approach combines patience, careful observation and fine-art portraiture while respecting the horse in front of me.
These sessions are for:
- Horse owners wanting meaningful portraits
- Riders celebrating a special partnership
- Stud farms, breeders and riding schools
- Owners marking a milestone or important season
- Anyone wanting to preserve the memory of a deeply loved horse

Horse Photography Questions
Do you travel throughout South Africa?
Yes. I am based in St Francis Bay in the Eastern Cape and travel throughout South Africa for selected horse photography sessions. Travel arrangements depend on your location, the number of sessions and the venue requirements.
Does my horse need to be perfectly trained?
No. Horses are individuals and do not need to behave perfectly for us to create beautiful photographs. The session allows enough time and flexibility to work with your horse’s personality and comfort.
Do I need riding or modelling experience?
No. You do not need to know how to pose or have modelling experience. I will guide you through the session and help with positioning in a way that feels natural.
Can you photograph my horse without me?
Yes. Your session can focus entirely on your horse or include a combination of horse-only portraits, photographs of you together and ridden images.
Can you photograph more than one horse?
Yes. Please tell me how many horses you would like included when you enquire so that enough time can be allowed and the session can be planned properly.
Where can the photoshoot take place?
Sessions can take place at your yard, farm, stable, equestrian venue or another suitable location. We look for safe areas with good light and backgrounds that will photograph well.
What should I wear?
You can choose casual clothing, riding attire or a more styled fine-art look. Simple, well-fitting clothing in natural or neutral colours generally photographs beautifully. We can discuss your options before the session.
Can several owners at one yard book sessions?
Yes. A yard photography day can be arranged when several owners in the same area would like individual sessions. This can make travel arrangements more practical outside the Eastern Cape.
